Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said Armenia should fight with Azerbaijan "one-on-one", Haqqin.az reports.

Aliyev said Armenia turned to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), demanding that they make a statement condemning Azerbaijan.

"Fight with us one on one, let's see who wins then," he added.

The situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan escalated on July 12, with Azerbaijan having launched several unsuccessful infiltration attempts in since then. The Azerbaijani military also used artillery and combat drones to target civilian homes in several border settlements in Armenia. Four servicemen of the Armenian army were killed, while Azerbaijan reported 12 deaths. The situation had been relatively calm before the latest attack on July 21.
