Armenian Ministry of Culture institutes Coryphaeus of Arts award
Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan signed a decree on institution of
Coryphaeus of Arts award.
The Coryphaeus of Arts title will be bestowed upon 8 nominates in 2009. Dramatic art workers were the first to be nominated. The title went to People's Artist of USSR Sos Sargsyan for significant contributions to Armenian art and Honored Art Worker of Armenia Perch Zeituntsyan for significant contributions to art and literature.
"This is a national award, as there can't be any doubts that these Coryphaei of Arts are truly a part of national heritage," Hasmik Poghosyan emphasized.
"I'm greatly honored to be conferred this high title. Unfortunately, I have no influence over the public now, but I call on young people to remember their roots, as no nation can germinate without them," Sos Sargsyan said.
The Chairman of Armenian Culture Development Fund Mezzo Igityan awarded Sos Sargsyan and Perch Zeituntsyan with the highest prizes of Karot Fund and bronze statuettes by sculptor Frid Soghoyan. The awards were granted for significant contributions to the development of Armenian Culture and spiritual heritage.
