Armenian tae kwon doists training for 10 Days of Sunrise tournament
Armenia's National and Youth taekwondo teams are training for an International tournament"Ten Days of Sun Rise" to be held in Tehran, April 11-13. Vardan Kagramanyan, executive director of Armenia's Taekwondo Federation during his talk with a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent said that this is an A category tournament which means that it is inferior only to European and world championships.
"As you know within the framework of "Friendship Cup" we last participated in Tehran with two combined teams in February where the youth combined team took the 1st place and the junior team- the 3rd. The total number of medals we won there was 8 silver and 9 bronze. This time we are more optimistic. We now have real contenders for the gold medal. Firstly, it is the 2008 European champion, Arman Yeremyan, We also set our hopes on Maksim Sahakyan and Varag Aghajanyan. There are other young sportsmen, too and we hope they will play successfully,"Kagramanyan said.
"This year we plan to participate in a number of both official and non-official tournaments. We will also hold three or four training sessions in Tehran. These sessions are very essential for us as this year we have to compete in two championships-European and World championship to be held in October, Kopenhagen.Аs to the combined teams they are made up of only national champions so that the forthcoming championship may cause to make changes in the youth combined team," Kagramanyan mentioned.
Eighteen (18) players headed by the main coach of the National Team, Gevorg Danielyan and his Iranian assistant, Rahim Samehi, will present the Armenian taekwondo delegation at the forthcoming tournament in Tehran. Young sportsmen will participate in 8 weight classes, whereas the National team -in 10 weight categories.
