Azerbaijan opens indiscriminate fire near Tavush

The Azerbaijani troops opened indiscriminate fire in some parts of the border with Armenia's Tavush province on Wednesday, November 17 evening. The Armenian army retaliated to silence the Azeri troops, the Defense Ministry reports.

As of 10 am Thursday, the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was reported to be relatively stable.

In clashes launched by Azerbaijan on November 16, the Armenian side has confirmed the death of 2 servicemen, while 13 others have been captured by Azerbaijan. Two combat positions too have gone under the control of Azeri forces, 24 Armenian troops have gone missing.

On Wednesday, Deputy Commander of Russia's Southern Military District, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov transferred the body of one Armenian serviceman, Taron Sahakyan (b. 1990) from Baku to Yerevan, the Defense Ministry reports. According to the authorities, the soldier was killed in Azerbaijan's latest offensive in the southern province of Syunik on November 16.
