MP predicts "hotbeds of tension" throughout Armenia-Azerbaijan talks

Chairman of the parliament's Defense Committee Andranik Kocharyan believes tensions along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border will persist until the countries enter the demarcation and delimitation phase.

Kocharyan's comments came after one more Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijan's aggression on the border. According to him, the direct communication line that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to establish at the level of Defense Ministers should become a reality too.

The lawmaker said that "hotbeds of tension" are going to accompany the negotiation process but that the Armenian side is nonetheless eager to begin that process as soon as possible.

It was reported earlier that European Council President Charles Michel has proposed to host Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for a meeting in Brussels in the margins of the EaP Summit, to which the leaders agreed. They are set to meet in Brussels to discuss the regional situation and ways of overcoming tensions.
