Int'l community "knows Azerbaijan using PoWs as bargaining chip"

Armenian parliament speaker Alen Simonyan believes the international community is well aware that Azerbaijan is using the issue of prisoners of war and the civilians as a bargaining chip.

Attending the conference "Armenia One Year Later" organized by the President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher in Paris, Simonyan said on Wednesday, November 24 that the inhuman treatment insulting the dignity of PoWs and tortures have been documented by international organizations.

Simonyan noted that Armenia appreciates the active involvement of France as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair and a friendly country in negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Katabakh conflict.

The President of the Armenian National Assembly also weighed in on renewed tensions along Armenia's borders, which emerged after Azerbaijan's latest attack against the province of Syunik and ongoing provocations on the line of contact.
