Armenia, Azerbaijan agree to "expedite negotiations", says Yerevan

Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov have agreed to "expedite their negotiations" and organize another meeting in the coming weeks, according to a statement from Yerevan.

The two met held a meeting on 7 November in Washington DC and were joined by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

The Ministers shared views on the elements of a possible peace treaty and acknowledged that there is a range of issues that still need to be addressed. Both sides reiterated the commitments undertaken by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in their meetings on October 6 in Prague and October 31 in Sochi.

They agreed to expedite their negotiations and organize another meeting in the coming weeks.

Both Ministers expressed their appreciation to the US side for hosting the peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Before the meeting, Blinken offered remarks and applauded Armenia and Azerbaijan for the "courage and determination" they show on the "path to a durable peace".
