Russia says ready to arrange Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting

Russia will be ready to provide all necessary assistance for arranging a new meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Russia, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday, December 7.

"Russia, of course, will be ready to provide all necessary assistance to host such a meeting on its territory," the Kremlin was cited as saying by TASS.

Speaking about the informal CIS summit, which may take place in St. Petersburg at the end of the year, he noted: "There are ideas for holding such a New Year's Eve meeting, when all the agreements are finalized, we will make an announcement."

“About the meeting (of Pashinyan and Aliyev -Ed.) also, if there is understanding, we will inform you,” Peskov concluded.

Earlier, the head of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Eduard Aghajanyan, said that Pashinyan and Aliyev could hold a new meeting by the end of 2022 to continue negotiations on the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku.
