Armenia has urged the United Nation to deploy a fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor to assess the humanitarian situation on the ground.
Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the UN, Mher Margaryan, told a UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday, December 20 that Azerbaijan has actually targeted the 120,000 people of Nagorno-Karabakh by completely isolating them during the harsh winter season. The blockade of the Lachine Corridor has obstructed the provision of healthcare and social services causing life-threatening situations, he added.
The diplomat also urged the UN Security Council to demand that Azerbaijan fully respect the provisions of the Trilateral Statement of 9 November 2020 and to immediately and unconditionally unblock the Lachin corridor by removing all obstacles for the safe, secure and unimpeded transport communication.
For 10 days now, the key road has been blocked by Azerbaijanis who claim to be environmentalists. Azerbaijan had also deprived the people of Karabakh of gas supplies.
