The UN Security Council discussion of Azerbaijan's blocking of the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) to Armenia is the beginning of the organization's active involvement in solving the problems of Artsakh, according to Artak Beglaryan, an advisor to the State Minister of Artsakh.
Beglaryan, who is staging a sit-in in Yerevan, said on Wednesday, December 21 night that "quite valuable statements by various states" were made during the Security Counci meeting.
"We can say that almost all member states clearly emphasized the inadmissibility of Azerbaijan's blockade of Artsakh, stressing the need for the immediate elimination [of the blockade]," Beglaryan said on social media.
"I am glad that based on Armenia's application, it was possible to organize such a discussion, but this is only the beginning of the process of active and comprehensive involvement of the United Nations in solving the short-term and long-term problems of Artsakh."
For several days now, the key road has been blocked by Azerbaijanis who claim to be environmentalists. Azerbaijan had also deprived the people of Karabakh of gas supplies.”
