Civilized world realizes the importance of recognizing the Armenian Genocide
On Genocide commemoration day, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan addressed the following message to the Armenian nation:
"Dear Compatriots,
April 24 has a double importance for the Armenian nation. Paying tribute to thousands of victims of the Armenian Genocide we also look into the future, having learnt lessons from the past, which left indelible traces in our history. History tells us that the preservation of national identity requires strength and fighting ability, in addition to philanthropy, nobility, national and moral values. We are required to have a sovereign democratic and powerful state."
In view of the increasing number of states recognizing the Genocide, the premier is inclined to believe that civilized nations and states are more than ever interested in the reinstatement of historical justice and the acknowledgement and condemnation of challenges, crimes and acts of violence directed against the whole mankind.
"I am sure that our efforts have helped the civilized world realize that the demand for international recognition of Genocide is not purely a matter of historical memory; it is aimed at prevention of such crimes in all parts of world, promoting friendly ties, mutual trust and strong cooperation between states and nations. We are required to demonstrate national solidarity and unanimity for making our voice heard," says the statement, RA Government Press Service reported.
