On June 2, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan had a telephone conversation with Dr. Colin Kahl, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Affairs.

A number of issues related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and regional security were discussed, according to a statement from the Armenian Defense Ministry.

The progress of the agreements regarding the development of the Armenian-American defense cooperation, reached with Dr. Kahl during Papikyan’s trip to the United States in September 2022, were also on the table.

Back in September 2022, the two discussed ways to strengthen the U.S.-Armenian defense relationship. Dr. Kahl emphasized the U.S. commitment to peace and stability in the South Caucasus. In addition, the two leaders discussed the war in Ukraine and possible areas of mutually-beneficial cooperation.
