Official Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova has said that that there is a feeling that the West does not care about Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"There is a feeling that there is some kind of zealous rivalry with Moscow in order to intercept and reformat this entire agenda. It seems that the West does not care about Armenia and Azerbaijan, about peaceful coexistence,” Zakharova said Wednesday, June 28, adding that West is only trying to “create leverage”.
She noted that if the West wants to become a real intermediary, then they need to stop thinking about "zero-sum games." "Attempts to bring peace to the South Caucasus can be viable in the West only if they do not have an anti-Russian orientation and do not compete with our efforts," the diplomat said.
On June 27, negotiations began in Washington between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov. Prior to the start of the bilateral meeting, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held separate meetings with them.
