Moscow is not discussing with Baku and Yerevan the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Nagorno-Karabakh, a diplomatic source told RIA Novosti.
“Information in a number of media outlets that the Russian Defense Ministry delegation is discussing with Baku or Yerevan the withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from Karabakh does not correspond to reality,” he said.
“We are talking about planned contacts on the current activities of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.”
After Azerbaijan launched a military offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, almost all the population was forced to flee their homes and settle in Armenia. The Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020 was supposed to ensure the safety of the Armenians.
