OSCE vows support for Armenia “in all three directions of security”

Achieving stable and comprehensive peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains a priority of the OSCE, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister for Foreign, Trade and European Affairs of Malta Ian Borg told a press conference in Yerevan on Monday, May 13.

Borg is on a working trip to Yerevan. He met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan earlier in the day.

"Dialogue and diplomacy is the only way. We are convinced that a constructive dialogue between equals is indispensable for achieving a comprehensive and lasting settlement,” Borg said commenting on processes between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“After decades of conflict and suffering, it is imperative that the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan finally achieve the peace, security and prosperity they truly deserve. We are ready to continuously support Armenia in all three directions of OSCE security and increase the organization's influence on the ground.”

Borg will be traveling to Baku next.

“Tomorrow in Baku, I will call on my Azerbaijani interlocutors to have a reliable and stable commitment to the negotiations,” he said.

The Maltese diplomat then turned to Mirzoyan and added: "You can count on our support, that's exactly how I count on you. I assure you that the goal is to promote peace and stability in these difficult times."
