Ruling MPs, Foreign Minister talk Armenia-Azerbaijan processes

Lawmakers from the ruling Civil Contract party met with the Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in the Armenian parliament on Friday, May 31.

According to a statement published on the Facebook page of the Civil Contract party, the meeting tackled the peace process within the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations.

An exchange of views on regional and international issues also took place, the statement added.

On May 31, the movement Tavush for the Motherland staged a rally near the Armenian Foreign Ministry, demanding a meeting with the minister to comment on recent statements by the leaders of Turkey and Azerbaijan. The minister refused to meet with the protesters, who demanded to be allowed into the building. Police forces, who cordoned off the ministry, did not allow the protesters to enter the building. A little later, the rally escalated into clashes between security forces and protesters. Law enforcement officers detained about 30 people.
