As part of his official visit to Georgia on 2 September, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met with the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze to discuss “strategic relations” between the two countries.
According to the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Ambassador of Yerevan to Tbilisi Ashot Smbatyan too attended the meeting.
“During discussions, both sides emphasized the strategic relations between Armenia and Georgia, highlighting the effectiveness of regular high-level contacts between delegations,” the Armenian Defense Ministry said.
“The Prime Minister of Georgia welcomed the strengthening of Armenia-Georgia cooperation in the defence sector and expressed his full support for this ongoing process.”
Papikyan, meanwhile, stressed the importance of enhancing defense cooperation. Both Kobakhidze and Papikyan emphasized the importance of establishing long-term and stable peace in the region. The Georgian side expressed its readiness to continue supporting efforts to establish peace in the region.
