EU Mission dismisses Baku’s accusations of “bias” in favor of Yerevan

The EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia has dismissed accusations from Azerbaijani alleging of “bias” in favor of Yerevan and “preparation of provocations” as baseless.

Mission spokesperson Anna Palmén explained that the Mission’s patrols adhere to standard procedures, with no unusual incidents reported.

Azerbaijani state media alleged earlier that EU observers were using special equipment to monitor Azerbaijan’s territory and questioned their neutrality.

In a conversation with RFE/RL’s Armenian service, the spokesperson reaffirmed the EU mission’s commitment to impartiality.

The mission launched in February 2023 with an initial 100 observers. In December of that year, it was expanded to include 209 personnel operating from six offices across Armenia.
