Armenia welcomes Gaza ceasefire agreement

Armenia has welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which aims to ensure the release of prisoners and hostages, says the statement issued by the Armenian Foreign Ministry on X.

"Armenia welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which is expected to secure the release of hostages and captives from both sides. We express hope that this agreement will play a significant role in ensuring the safety of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples, paving the way for comprehensive peace and stability in the Middle East region," the post reads.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry also emphasized the efforts of the mediating parties.

"The mediation efforts of the international community, particularly those of the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, which have led to this significant milestone, are commendable," the statement added.

On January 15, it was announced that Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement. Qatar, Egypt, and the United States acted as mediators. The agreement, which aims to end 15 months of ongoing military conflict, will take effect on January 19, according to Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
