Avinyan: transport fare package revision to be discussed

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced that he has carefully reviewed the recent feedback and suggestions from Yerevan residents regarding the updated fares for unified ticket packages. on his Facebook page.

In a post on his Facebook page, he stated that the upcoming city council session will address potential revisions to some transport fare packages.

"Our priority is to ensure the comfort of all city residents and listen to everyone's opinions. During the next city council session, we will discuss the possibilities for revising the fare application logic. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive and fair solution that balances public needs with the city's budget stability.

Thus, during the February 11 session of the Yerevan City Council, we will propose the following changes:

▫️10 trips – 2,000 AMD, valid for 45 days, instead of the current 2,200 AMD and 30 days.

▫️300 AMD fare valid for 180 minutes, compared to the current 90 minutes.

▫️1-day pass – 900 AMD for unlimited trips, replacing the current 8-trip limit.

▫️7-day pass – 5,000 AMD for unlimited trips, instead of the current 30-trip limit.

Additionally, as of January 1, the following packages are also available:

▫️30 days – 9,000 AMD for unlimited trips, ▫️90 days – 24,000 AMD for unlimited trips, ▫️365 days – 90,000 AMD for unlimited trips.

During the same city council session, additional changes and updates will be announced to make the system more convenient and efficient for Yerevan residents," the post said.

Starting February 1, new public transport fares will come into effect. The municipality has introduced four payment methods: transport cards, QR codes, a mobile app, and bank cards.

Former Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan, who has called for a boycott of the fare hike starting February 1, stated that there is no legal provision imposing a 50,000 AMD fine for refusing to pay the increased fares.
