Voskepar-Kirants road issue sparks debate in Parliament

During a parliamentary Q&A session, a deputy raised concerns about a potential transfer of a key road section to Azerbaijan.

Opposition MP Garnik Danielyan inquired during the government’s Q&A session whether the Voskepar-Kirants section of the Armenia-Georgia interstate road is planned to be handed over to Azerbaijan.

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan responded, emphasizing that all agreements are made public through official statements:

"We have a regulatory framework that clearly describes how decisions are made, their format, and how they come into force. Within this framework, you can find the answer to your question," he said, according to Pastinfo.

Danielyan repeated his question, demanding clarity to "avoid speculation" and added that no one present in the hall fully understood Grigoryan’s response.

In reply, the Deputy Prime Minister urged reliance on official sources:

"The agreement framework is public and cannot remain secret. The last official statement contained information about our agreements. If what you mentioned was not in that statement, it means there is no such agreement," Grigoryan said.

On January 16, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that an agreement had been reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding a new section of border delimitation. The agreement foresees work starting from the northern point of intersection of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, extending southward to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with Iran.
