The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) continues to regard Armenia as an ally despite recent statements by the country’s Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS), TASS reported citing a source within the organization.

Earlier, Armenia’s FIS stated in a report that the reasons behind Yerevan’s decision to freeze its participation in the CSTO’s activities in 2024 are likely to persist through 2025.

“Yes, the organization’s Secretariat is aware of this statement by the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic of Armenia. However, we still consider Armenia an ally and maintain working relations with Yerevan,” the source said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously announced that Armenia had suspended its participation in the CSTO, claiming that the organization’s actions posed threats to the country’s sovereignty. During an international security forum in Warsaw, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Yerevan is assessing the risks associated with a possible withdrawal from the CSTO. However, no final decision on the matter has been made by Armenia.
