Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump once appropriate signals are received from Washington, said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who emphasized that any updates on a potential conversation would be shared promptly., RIA Novosto reports.
Earlier, Reuters reported that Trump allegedly expressed a desire to meet with the Russian leader "immediately." The U.S. president also claimed he was receiving indications that Vladimir Putin was ready for a personal meeting.
"Listen, Putin is ready. We're waiting for signals, everyone's prepared. So it's hard to speculate. As soon as there’s something, if anything happens, we’ll inform you," Peskov said in response to a question about whether to expect contacts between the two Presidents over the weekend.
