Armenian school in Istanbul targeted in shooting

Two suspects were involved in the shooting at the old building of Dadyan Armenian School in Istanbul's Bakırköy district on January 21. One suspect fired shots at the building, while the other collected empty bullet casings from the ground. These details were revealed after analyzing security camera footage, according to newspaper Agos.

The building is currently used by Anatolia Private High School.

Police identified and detained the suspects, seizing an illegal pistol and 14 bullets during the search. Investigations revealed that the suspects had a criminal record.

The Dadyan school building is owned by the Bakırköy Holy Mother of God Church Foundation. Its president, Mari Yancı, stated that the suspects were intoxicated and that the shots were fired accidentally.

The incident is under further investigation by law enforcement authorities.
