The Intellectual Property Agency of Azerbaijan (COPAT) has alleged that Georgia’s First Channel, along with Imedi and Rustavi 2, violated copyright laws. The claims were published on the agency's official website.

According to COPAT's statement, the Azerbaijani dance "Basgaly" was presented as the Armenian "Shalakho," while the folk song "Bu gala, dashly gala" was used without proper attribution or recognition of its national origin, Georgia Online reports.

This issue came to light in October 2024, when COPAT submitted a complaint to Georgia’s National Intellectual Property Center (Sakpatent).

In response, Sakpatent announced that an investigation had been launched, requested explanations from the mentioned broadcasters, and expressed readiness to monitor the situation closely. The agency’s leadership emphasized its commitment to ensuring compliance with legislation and, if necessary, to employing legal mechanisms to safeguard copyright.
