Most Armenians unfamiliar with income declaration procedure

A recent survey conducted by the Armenian representative of GALLUP International Association, MPG, between January 20-22, revealed that 83% of Armenian citizens are aware of the obligation to submit their income declaration by May 1, while 17% are unaware of this requirement.

According to the survey, 52.9% of respondents admitted they have no knowledge of the declaration process, while 16.3% stated they are mostly unaware. Only 9% reported being fully informed, and 18.9% claimed to be partially aware of the procedure.

MPG Director Arman Navasardyan noted that "the system is likely so complex that even those who believe they understand the process may find out otherwise when actually submitting their declarations," as reported by Pastinfo.

"It turns out that the vast majority of our citizens do not know how to fill out the declaration. I believe that the 9% who claim to be familiar with the process have previously been declarants and became acquainted with the law and procedure much earlier," he added.

Only 18.5% of respondents are fully prepared to submit their declaration, while 19.1% said they are likely to do so. Meanwhile, 18.2% expressed reluctance, and 31.7% stated they are unlikely to fulfill this obligation.

All salaried employees in Armenia must submit their income declaration by May 1.
