EAEU to develop joint information security measures

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the executive body of the EAEU, is in the active discussion phase regarding the development of joint cryptographic security measures, EEC Chairman Bakytzhan Sagintayev announced at the Digital Almaty forum in Kazakhstan.

According to him, these measures will help ensure the security of data exchange between EAEU member states and third countries, reports Sputnik Armenia.

Sagintayev recalled that last year, the EEC established a monitoring center to oversee the functioning of all components of the union’s information infrastructure. At the Digital Almaty forum, attended by EAEU heads of government, an electronic digital signature (EDS) mutual recognition system was launched.

In the future, citizens will be able to upload diplomas, medical certificates, and employment records into the system, and these documents will be automatically recognized across all EAEU countries.

Under the EAEU agreement, member states have already established automatic recognition of pensionable service records, improved customs cooperation (including for goods from third countries), and introduced an electronic verification system for product quality and safety. Plans are underway to expand this system to freight and passenger transport, public procurement, and stock exchange trading.

A unified citizen identification system is also in development, with Armenia and Kyrgyzstan currently testing it.

Armenia’s delegation at the Digital Almaty forum and the EAEU Intergovernmental Council meeting on January 30-31 in Kazakhstan is led by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
