Armenian airports will soon introduce biometric and next-generation equipment, as approved during a government session, Sputnik Armenia reports.
The decision includes installing biometric entry control systems and the "Rapiscan RTT110" baggage screening device, which will ensure 98% of baggage is scanned automatically. The remaining 2% will be sent for secondary screening using a separate system.
This upgrade will enable airports to speed up baggage inspection procedures while fully complying with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
Additionally, the government has established new certification formats for civil aviation inspectors and aircraft crew members, Hetq reports.
New formats have also been defined for airport access passes issued to employees and visitors entering special controlled zones.
The government has set medical examination requirements for individuals applying for civil aviation inspector and crew member certificates, as well as access to airport security zones. Applicants must not be registered in narcological dispensaries, have mental disorders, suffer from drug addiction, or use narcotics or psychotropic substances.
