Baku has demanded the closure of the Russian Cooperation office in the country, citing shifting geopolitical priorities. According to Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs (United Russia), Azerbaijan has intensified its cooperation with Turkey following the resolution of the Karabakh issue, which has influenced its stance toward Moscow.
"The real policy of the Azerbaijani authorities is entirely different: they are allies of Turkey and promote Turkish interests alongside their own in the Caspian region, Central Asia, and the Caucasus," Zatulin stated., Sputik Armenia reports.
In his view, "after Nagorno-Karabakh," Baku no longer sees Moscow as a necessary partner.
Earlier, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Yevgeny Primakov, reported that Azerbaijani authorities had demanded the closure of the "Russian House" due to its lack of legal registration.
