Trump, Putin talk about ending Ukraine war

President Donald Trump has disclosed that he engaged in a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on potential resolutions to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Trump emphasized that Putin desires an end to battlefield casualties, stating, "He wants to see people stop dying."

He reiterated his belief that the war would not have occurred if he had been president instead of Joe Biden.

Trump also mentioned having a specific plan to conclude the war swiftly but did not provide details. The timing of the conversation with Putin remains unspecified, and there has been no confirmation from Moscow or other sources regarding this exchange.

National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, in an interview with NBC, did not directly confirm whether the call took place.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated he "can neither confirm nor deny" the information about the call, citing numerous communications between the U.S. and Russian administrations through various channels, making it challenging to be aware of all interactions.

Next week, Vice President JD Vance is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will also travel to Europe to address the conflict.
