The process of Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union is gaining momentum, but the country has not yet officially applied for membership, Izvestia reported, citing the European Commission.
“The ongoing discussions in Armenia demonstrate the attractiveness of the European Union and its values. EU-Armenia relations have never been closer than they are now. The launch of the visa liberalization dialogue and the €10 million support within the framework of the European Peace Facility have demonstrated this,” the statement reads.
Brussels also announced its intention to discuss a legislative proposal on European integration with Armenian officials. While Armenia’s EU membership is not yet on the official agenda, the country is already moving toward a deeper partnership with the union.
