Armenia, UAE to recognize each other’s driver’s licenses

Armenia and the UAE will recognize each other’s driver’s licenses. The Armenian government approved the signing of an agreement on February 13, allowing the recognition and exchange of driver’s licenses issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia and the Ministry of Interior of the UAE.

Under this agreement, Armenian and UAE citizens visiting for non-residency purposes will be able to use their existing driver’s licenses without additional tests. For those relocating permanently, license exchange will be simplified, eliminating the need for theoretical and practical driving exams, Armenpress reports.

The agreement ensures that driver’s licenses from both countries will be recognized without additional verification, meaning individuals granted residency in Armenia or the UAE can exchange their licenses without extra requirements.

The recognition will also consider the age requirements specified by the laws of both countries. Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that this initiative will enhance transport cooperation and simplify conditions for both UAE citizens residing in Armenia and Armenians living in the UAE.

Additionally, the memorandum supports the foreign policy objectives of Armenia’s 2021-2026 government program by strengthening ties with Middle Eastern countries. The signing of the agreement will be facilitated by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
