Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated at a press conference in the UAE that Ukraine did not participate in the negotiations between Russia and the U.S. in Saudi Arabia and will not recognize their results. A video of his remarks was published by his office.
"Ukraine does not participate. Ukraine knew nothing about this. Ukraine considers any negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine to be void. We cannot recognize any agreements made about us without us. And we will not recognize such agreements," Zelensky emphasized.
He also clarified that his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, scheduled in the coming days, is unrelated to the Russia-U.S. meeting.
"This has nothing to do with what is happening in Saudi Arabia at the level of U.S. and Russian representatives. Of course, I will ask His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, when I am in Saudi Arabia, what he knows about it. Just curious," added the Ukrainian president.
Zelensky also confirmed that he will arrive in Saudi Arabia on February 19.
"Yesterday, our Deputy Prime Minister was in Saudi Arabia, and as you know, I will be there in two days," he said.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and presidential aide Yuri Ushakov were traveling to Riyadh on Vladimir Putin's orders for talks with U.S. representatives. The meeting, scheduled for February 18, will focus on restoring relations between Moscow and Washington.
