The Cascade Cultural Hub architectural project will receive an investment of 20 billion 46 million drams. An open competition for granting rights has been held, with the winning consortium comprising four companies, represented by GTB Development LLC.
The project is slated for full completion within five years, according to the municipality.
The plan includes constructing the unfinished section of the "Cascade" complex, ensuring a complete and finished appearance, and connecting the complex to the 50th Anniversary of Victory monument. The work will be based on a sketch and subsequent project by renowned French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
Facilities to be created include a concert hall for approximately 1,000 people, a new contemporary art museum, studios, and leisure and recreation areas. All constructed buildings, equipped with necessary technical means and infrastructure, will be transferred to the community as municipal property upon project completion.
In parallel with the reconstruction of the "Cascade" complex, the investing company is permitted to build a multifunctional complex on the right side of Cascade. Jean-Michel Wilmotte will design the project and provide architectural solutions, ensuring harmony between the complex and the existing and reconstructed parts of Cascade, as well as the surrounding environment.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan, addressing the issue, stated that due to financial difficulties, the upper section of Cascade remained unfinished, empty, and had become a waste collection center, reports Panorama.am .
According to him, various projects have been discussed in different formats for the development of this section.
"I've realized that within the architectural community, there's no consensus on the Cascade complex, which is why two international projects were put to a public vote," Avinyan noted, adding that one project belonged to David Hotson and the other to Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
The mayor stated that as a result of the vote, Jean-Michel Wilmotte's project was selected and presented for the competition.
Avinyan also mentioned that the municipality will not allocate funds for the construction of this section, as the construction will be carried out for the municipality, and later the areas will be provided for development purposes.
Additionally, the mayor announced that the construction work will be carried out in full.
