EU considers second aid package for Armenia

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has proposed to the Council the allocation of a second aid package for Armenia from the European Peace Facility.

This information was confirmed by Pedro Fonseca Moniz, spokesperson for the EU’s foreign relations and security policy, APA reports.

According to him, this proposal builds on previous support measures.

“The Council will begin discussing the proposal in the coming weeks,” he stated.

In 2024, the EU had already provided financial assistance to Armenia through this fund. On July 22, the EU Council allocated 10 million euros to Yerevan via the European Peace Facility to enhance its defense capabilities.

At the time, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Aykhan Hajizadeh, criticized the EU Council’s decision, calling it a “wrong and dangerous step that escalates tensions in the region.”
