Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Kaspar Veldkamp signed a joint declaration on strategic partnership.
Veldkamp emphasized that the Netherlands values its partnership with Armenia. Speaking at a joint press conference with Mirzoyan, he stated that the signed declaration represents a new stage in bilateral relations, according to Armenpress.
“The Netherlands rarely signs such a document. This is a rare event, demonstrating our commitment to Armenia. It reflects the strength of our ties,” said Veldkamp.
The Dutch foreign minister noted that the document aims to strengthen political, social, and economic relations based on mutual aspirations.
“I am very pleased to see this bilateral commitment. Today, we once again reaffirmed the principles on which our ties are built,” Veldkamp added.
During the minister's visit, the Dutch embassy was officially inaugurated in Yerevan. While the embassy had already been operational, no formal opening had taken place until now.
The Armenian and Dutch foreign ministers emphasized the importance of establishing peace in the South Caucasus.
“Peace must be based on sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-use of force or threats, and the inviolability of internationally recognized borders,” Mirzoyan stated.
The meeting also covered opportunities to enhance regional and international trade and transportation links.
The "Crossroads of Peace" initiative was highlighted as a potential key contribution in this area.
The strategic document also includes provisions for security cooperation, focusing on strengthening cyber resilience and countering hybrid threats.
The document does not include a military cooperation component.
