Opposition MP Ishkhan Saghatelyan from the Armenia faction stated that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has not conducted peace negotiations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. According to him, the agreements reached do not guarantee peace and stability. Saghatelyan made these remarks in a Facebook post.
He emphasized that Armenia's constitution will not be amended at Azerbaijan’s will.
According to Saghatelyan, the agreements have yielded no benefits for Armenia.
“They do not ensure the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from Armenia’s occupied territories, do not prevent further aggression from Azerbaijan, do not address the right of Artsakh Armenians to return, and do not resolve the issue of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan.
This is essentially a written commitment by Pashinyan to amend Armenia’s constitution.
We will not allow Azerbaijan to dictate changes to Armenia’s constitution. This will not happen,” he wrote.
Saghatelyan added that he is confident that a significant majority of the Armenian public will stand with them on this issue.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry announced that it has accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on two previously unresolved clauses, and the peace agreement is ready for signing. The Armenian side is prepared to begin consultations on the timeline and venue for the signing.
The draft peace agreement consists of 17 points, 15 of which had been agreed upon earlier. The two disputed points concerned the mutual renunciation of international claims and the prohibition of foreign representatives at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
