The European Union has welcomed the statements by Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the conclusion of negotiations on the peace and interstate relations agreement.
The EU commended Armenia for paving the way for finalizing the treaty text, Armenpress reported, citing an official declaration.
"The European Union welcomes the statements by Armenia and Azerbaijan on the conclusion of negotiations over the draft agreement on peace and interstate relations. We commend both sides for their steadfast efforts in this direction over the past several years, both bilaterally and with the involvement of the international community. The EU acknowledges Armenia for its role in facilitating the finalization of the treaty text. These statements mark a decisive step toward lasting peace and stability in the region. It is crucial to maintain this momentum and ensure the smooth completion of the process based on the same foresighted and compromise-driven approach from both sides. The EU fully supports the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and stands ready to provide additional assistance if requested by the parties," the statement reads.
On March 13, Armenia and Azerbaijan announced that they had reached a final agreement on the text of the peace treaty. The Armenian Foreign Ministry stated its readiness to begin discussions with Baku on the location and timing of the treaty's signing.
Many representatives of the international community have already expressed their support for the agreement, hoping that the treaty will be signed as soon as possible.
