NATO welcomes end of Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks

NATO has welcomed the conclusion of peace treaty negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of promptly signing and ratifying the agreement. This was stated by NATO spokesperson Allison Hart.

According to the statement, this marks a significant step in the settlement process, Armenpress reports.

“We welcome the conclusion of peace treaty negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and look forward to its signing and ratification. This is a significant step in the settlement process and an important contribution to strengthening regional security,” she wrote.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that it has accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on two previously disputed articles, and the peace treaty is ready for signing. Armenia is prepared to begin consultations on the timing and location of the signing.

The draft peace agreement consists of 17 articles, of which 15 had been previously agreed upon. One of the unresolved issues was the renunciation of international claims against each other, while the other concerned the deployment of foreign representatives on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
