The Armenian national football team has started its training camp ahead of the Nations League playoff matches against Georgia.
14 players took part in the training session on March 16. Goalkeeper Arsen Beglaryan, as well as Nair Tiknizyan, Edgar Sevikyan, and Artur Serobyan, are set to join later, Sputnik Armenia reports .
On March 17, Tigran Barseghyan, Ugochukwu Iwu, Hrant-Leon Ranos, Narek Grigoryan, and Styopa Mkrtchyan will join the team. On March 18, Gevorg Harutyunyan and Vahan Bichakhchyan will also arrive.
This training camp and the upcoming matches will be the first major test for Armenia’s newly appointed head coach, John van 't Schip.
Armenia will face Georgia in the Nations League playoff on March 20 and 23. The winner of this matchup will advance to League B of the competition. The first game will take place in Yerevan, with the return leg scheduled in Tbilisi.
On February 17, it was announced that former Ajax and Greece national team coach John van 't Schip had been appointed as Armenia’s new head coach.
