Finland remains world's happiest country, Armenia ranks 87th

Finland has been named the world’s happiest country for the eighth consecutive year, according to the World Happiness Report for 2024.

The top three spots in the ranking are once again occupied by Scandinavian nations, with Denmark in second place and Iceland in third, reports Sputnik Armenia.

The top ten happiest countries also include Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Norway, Israel, Luxembourg, and Mexico. The U.S. ranks 24th, Russia 72nd, and Ukraine 105th. No data is available for Belarus.

Armenia holds the 87th position, making it the happiest country among its neighbors. Georgia ranks 91st, Azerbaijan 106th, Turkey 94th, and Iran 99th.

Afghanistan remains the world’s least happy country, ranking last. Other low-ranking nations include Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Yemen.

The report evaluates happiness based on six key factors: social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and the absence of corruption. It is published annually on March 20, the International Day of Happiness.

The World Happiness Report was first published in 2012.
