RA Interior Ministry denies rumors of mass theft of Georgian license plates

Armenian police denied social media rumors of widespread targeting of Georgian vehicles in Yerevan.

Only one case of a Georgian license plate theft has been reported in Yerevan, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, denying claims of mass incidents.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has dismissed reports circulating about mass thefts of Georgian license plates, according to Armenpress.

Narek Sargsyan, spokesperson for the ministry, confirmed that only one such incident had been recorded.

“The information is not true. Since March 19, only one case of theft of a Georgian license plate has been registered, in the Kentron administrative district. If there are citizens who have been affected or whose license plates have been stolen, we ask them to contact the police,” he said.

On various social media platforms, some users had claimed that license plates from cars belonging to Georgian football fans had been stolen in several parts of Yerevan.
