Armenia has officially joined the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM) as a full member. The decision was made unanimously during the 23rd European Congress of Internal Medicine and EFIM General Assembly, held March 5–8 in Florence, Italy.
The Armenian Association of Internal Medicine was granted full membership, making Armenia the 43rd country represented in the federation.
At the invitation of the Armenian association, the delegation from Yerevan included David Karapetyan, head of the city’s Health Department, Deputy Head Armine Zohrabyan, and the directors of four municipal medical institutions, according to the Yerevan Municipality.
During the event, the association presented its work over the past six years focused on professional development for internal medicine specialists, promotion of knowledge and experience exchange, and the advancement of preventive and longevity medicine. The development and adaptation of national standards and guidelines for diagnosing and treating internal diseases in Armenia were also highlighted.
