Armenia’s National Security Service Director Armen Abazyan stated that there is currently no concrete decision regarding the possible withdrawal of Russian border guards from the Armenian-Turkish border. Speaking to reporters in the National Assembly, Abazyan addressed the ongoing discussions, but emphasized the absence of finalized plans.
“We have no specific decision at this time,” he said, as reported by Aysor.am .
Since 2024, Armenia’s border troops have been fully responsible for operations at Zvartnots International Airport. The same applies to the Armenian-Iranian border section near Agarak, where, as of March 1, the checkpoint is operated solely by Armenian forces.
Asked whether the process of replacing Russian personnel might continue in other sectors, Abazyan reiterated, “At this time, we have no other specific decision.”
