Participants of the Congress of Armenia’s Democratic Forces have issued a statement expressing their full support for the Euroalliance and mayoral candidate Levon Barseghyan in the upcoming Gyumri municipal council elections on March 30.

They called on Gyumri residents to vote for the Euroalliance and Levon Barseghyan.

"We, the participants of the latest Congress of Armenia’s Democratic Forces, emphasizing the importance of establishing and developing local self-government in Armenia, and viewing the elections in Gyumri, Armenia’s second-largest city, as an opportunity for democracy, free expression of will, and local self-determination,

In the context of the historic adoption of a law initiating Armenia’s accession to the European Union, and recognizing the need to align local governance and community development in Armenia with the principles of the European Charter of Local Self-Government,

Rejecting the participation of former criminal-oligarchic figures and their local representatives in political processes, including in local government bodies such as Gyumri’s city council,

While also assessing the current governance of Gyumri by the Civil Contract party as highly unsatisfactory,

We express our full support to the Euroalliance and Gyumri mayoral candidate Levon Barseghyan in the upcoming city council elections.

We urge Gyumri’s citizens to cast their vote for the Euroalliance and Levon Barseghyan, ballot number 6," the statement reads.

Local elections in Gyumri will take place on March 30.
