Pashinyan says voter choice is law

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has commented on the results of the extraordinary local elections held in the communities of Gyumri (Shirak Province) and Parakar (Armavir Province). Writing on his Facebook page, he emphasized that the citizen’s choice is law.

“All citizens of the Republic of Armenia must be able to vote freely. The citizen’s choice is the law for us,” he wrote.

Pashinyan also called for a detailed examination of any reports concerning illegal attempts to influence voters’ will.

“I congratulate all political forces and candidates who earned the trust of citizens and won the elections.

P.S. All reports of illegal pressure on voters must be thoroughly investigated, with the clear aim of preventing any recurrence,” the post reads.

The Central Electoral Commission has summarized the preliminary results of the March 30 elections. In Gyumri, no single political force secured a majority, making coalition formation necessary to elect a community leader. If opposition parties unite, the city could see an opposition mayor.

In Parakar, four political forces participated: Civil Contract (Ludvig Gyulnazaryan), Unity alliance (Volodya Grigoryan), National Progress (David Minasyan), and Stability (Gor Saribekyan). The Unity emerged as the leader. The Country to Live party, part of this alliance, announced the victory of its candidate Grigoryan.
