Armenia drops in FIFA rankings after Georgia defeats

Armenia’s national football team has dropped two spots in the latest FIFA rankings, now positioned 102nd globally. This decline follows two recent losses against Georgia, with scores of 0-3 and 1-6, according to Hetq.

Argentina, the reigning world champion, retains the top position in the updated ranking. Spain, France, England, Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, and Germany round out the top ten.

In the UEFA qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Armenia will face several teams including Portugal, which currently holds 7th place after dropping one spot. Hungary fell seven places to 37th, while Ireland remains steady at 60th.

On June 6, Armenia will play a friendly match away against Kosovo, now ranked 97th globally after climbing two spots. On June 9, Armenia will face Montenegro, ranked 73rd with no change in position.

Among former Soviet countries, Ukraine leads at 25th place, followed by Russia (35), Uzbekistan (57), Georgia (68), and Belarus (98). Other ex-Soviet republics are ranked below Armenia.

Of Armenia’s neighbors, Iran holds the highest position at 18th, Turkey is 27th after a one-spot rise, Georgia is 68th, and Azerbaijan dropped to 119th.

The next FIFA ranking update will be released on July 10.
