The government of Armenia has clarified the list of illnesses that justify early access to pension savings. Revisions have been made to a previous decision in line with the Law on Funded Pensions, aiming to refine the list of conditions that entitle individuals to receive their pension funds before reaching retirement age.
According to the law, any participant may request the full amount of their pension account at any time—including before reaching retirement age—if diagnosed with a condition included in the government-approved list. Such a request must be supported by a conclusion from the authorized state body overseeing the pension system.
The updated list specifically includes chronic and progressively debilitating conditions such as heart failure, chronic diseases of the central and peripheral nervous systems with persistent neurological deficits, and malignant tumors. These medical conditions now allow for a one-time disbursement of the accumulated pension contributions under the revised legal framework.
