The United States President Donald Trump is eagerly awaiting the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, according to Eric Jacobsen, Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Energy Resources, who made the statement in Baku.
He congratulated both parties on finalizing the draft agreement and expressed hope that it will be ratified soon, APA reported.
“This will serve as a driver of economic development by ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region. A stable peace will mark the end of an era of conflict in the region and bring security and prosperity to the South Caucasus. We greatly value the steps you have taken on this path,” Jacobsen stated.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during a joint press conference with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, reiterated that Azerbaijan's demands to Armenia remain unchanged. These include the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and amendments to Armenia’s Constitution, which allegedly contains “territorial claims against Azerbaijan.”
