Armenia has been elected to the executive boards of three United Nations agencies. Following elections held on April 4 at the UN Economic and Social Council, Armenia secured membership on the executive boards of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for the 2026–2028 term, according to Armenia’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
"Armenia will make every effort to support and contribute to the work of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board in advancing the 2030 Agenda in program countries and promoting inclusive, effective, and sustainable development in the social, economic, and environmental sectors," the statement reads.
The Executive Board of UNDP, UNFPA, and UNOPS is responsible for overseeing and supporting the operations of these agencies. Comprising 36 member states, the board ensures the effective implementation of activities in program countries by providing strategic guidance and continuous monitoring.
